CORPORATE AFFAIRS & COMMUNICATION MANAGER
The position of the CA&C manager will mainly consist of assisting, supporting and representing the CA&C Director in areas of regulation (TPDII), tobacco taxation, AIT/compliance, and media engagement.
This role has strategic importance because of its large impact on business results which can be significantly affected by the fiscal and regulatory measures imposed upon the tobacco industry.
The most important focus is on managing fiscal laws, tobacco and emerging products regulations and European tobacco laws. Next to this, the CA&C manager will take care of internal contacts and communication towards internal stakeholders in the Brussels, Dutch and
Gryson offices and externally towards trade media and external stakeholders.

In addition, the new position will monitor JTI projects with regards to Community Investment and Corporate Responsibility and will provide follow-up on Regional and/or HQ functions requests in those fields. The position will also create arms and legs to the necessary administrative/compliance activities and budget controls at the departmental level.

The incumbent acts as the right arm of the Market Head of CA&C and must possess the ability to work independently in a high-pressure environment. He or she should be considered as a potential successor for the role of CA&C Market Head.
Generally: This role requires a good degree of autonomy, societal and cultural understanding, and good analytical skills and sense of accuracy. Writing skills are a must as well as a special interest in the complexity of the Corporate Affairs & Communication subjects. In addition, this role requires good planning and self-management skills, showing initiative and sense of ownership while observing corporate culture and practices. Additional required functional skills are regulatory, legal or financial skills, third-party management skills and planning & organizational skills. He must have a deep understanding of the political arena and public decision-making processes
Main Responsibilities

Assist, support and represent the CA&C Director in CA specific topics such as:

Regulation (EU TPDII), Tobacco Taxation, AIT (Anti Illicit Trade), ITR (International Travel Retail) and Compliance programs, stakeholder mapping & relationship management.

He /she provides technical analysis on regulatory and legislative developments in the country and at EU level and the impact on the tobacco sector.
Communication
-
Provides support to the CA&C Director on Internal Communication Strategy, Project management and Internal Communication

Improve internal communication mix (Website, Intranet, Business TV, corporate newsletters/ magazines/brochure/ materials)

Organize Internal & External CA&C events/activities

Co-ordinate internal communication initiatives between Be lux market and Region/HQ

Responsible for the press relations with trade media (press releases & advertisements in close collaboration with Sales & Marketing)

Collaboration with various public institutions including Ministries, Parliament and Customs.

Interaction with other tobacco companies.

He/she must contribute to the development of comprehensive strategies to address new regulatory threats to the business. This may include the use of different forms of communications, advocacy tools and political tactics. He/she must contribute to the preparation of positions on regulatory issues for submission to government. A good understanding of legal matters especially public law is a plus.

Contact/interface towards partners on CI and CR (voluntary work)

Project management current and new CI and CR projects and network events in cooperation with CI partners

Ensure that JTI CI and CR initiatives and its results are communicated internally and/or externally

Implement requests by HQ on the field of Internal Communications.

Responsibility for preparing market reports summarizing activities and expenditure for CI and CR for submission on a regular basis to the CA&C Director

Responsible for evaluating CI and CSR initiatives in order to strive for continuous improvement

Budget control Internal Communications, CI and CR projects, preparing budget plans. Sparring partner in the field of Public and Regulatory Affairs, media management, engagement strategies and backup role in case of absence CA&C Director in external representation, especially in French speaking part of Belgium and Luxembourg. Support in Crisis management. Involvement in (Social) Media relations
Minimum Requirements
Education: Graduate in Law, Business School, Politics, Economics
Work Experience: At least 3 years of professional experience in a ministerial or parliamentary office, or a consulting firm (audit, advocate, lobbying) or business in sectors such as food, oil, spirits and pharmaceuticals.

Languages & Computer Skills: Good written language skills French Mother Tongue or Very fluent proficiency. Given the position and the international dimension of the company, fluency in English is required. Knowledge o Dutch is nice to have. Preferably another 3rd language like German is preferreble.

IT skills: Advanced MS Office skills (Excel and Powerpoint).
